The Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival is an independent visual media festival sponsored by Meihodo, a Japanese corporation that supports young visual artists worldwide.
Founded in 2018, this annual festival was jointly created by Meihodo and the Beijing Film Academy of China. The festival is composed of three parts: themed visual works exhibition; and online discussion forum; and the evaluation and awards ceremony. It is authorized by Meihodo, and is organized and operated by the Executive Committee of the festival.
The 3rd Annual Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival features the theme“We Are in This Together--Unforgettable Moments In 2020”and will be held in Fukuoka on January 8, 2021.

This year marks the third annual festival. Across the prior two festivals 663 video works have been submitted from 12 countries and regions including China, Japan, the United States and Vietnam. A total of 68 entries were awarded with a total prize money of ¥16 million ($150K).
The first Annual Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival was held in Fukuoka, Japan, from November 6, 2018, to November 7, 2018. More than 320 works were submitted from students from 12 Chinese colleges and universities, including Beijing Film Academy and nine Japanese colleges and universities, including Tokyo University of the Arts. Among them, 31 won awards.“Swimming Home,”a drama directed by Yiyu Wang, a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, won the highest honor of the first film festival, the Meihodo Grand Prize of ¥1 million ($10K).
The second Annual Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival was held in Fukuoka, Japan, from August 28, 2019, to August 29, 2019. More than 340 works were submitted from students from 18 Chinese colleges and universities, including Beijing Film Academy and Central Academy of Drama; seven colleges and universities in Japan, including the Art Department of Japan University, Film Studies Department of Tokyo University of the Arts; 41 colleges and universities in the United States such as Harvard University, New York University, Parsons School of Design; and 67 colleges and universities in Vietnam like Ho Chi Minh University. In the end, 37 entries were awarded prizes.“The South and the Gun”by Yuxing Li, a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, won the Meihodo Grand Prize, the highest honor of the second annual festival.
The Organizing Committee for the third annual festival was officially established on September 1, 2020.
