The third annual MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival is honored to welcome the internationally celebrated Chen Man to this year’s event asits Honorary Chairperson for the jury for the photography and short-form film categories.
The contemporary Chinese photographer and visual artist will also serve as an advisor for the photography finalists' MEIHODO exhibition. The exhibition will be on display through the end of 2021 at KISS (Kyushu International Studio Square) – Japan's largest short film studio located in Fukuoka and the venue for this year’s festival.
As one of the leading international photographers, Chen Man is widely admired and respected, particularly amongst other artists and celebrities. A true pioneer in the field of photography, she is responsible for several cover images for popular Chinese magazines and other notable works. Throughout her career she has captured and refined a contemporary aesthetic, rich in creativity.
“90% of the cameras are black. Only by choosing a color similar to or integrated with the camera, can we successfully hide ourselves behind the camera without disturbing other people's attention,”says Chen Man, known for her signature all-black ensembles. She brings the highest degree of professionalism and mastery of the visual language to every project.
Her participation in this year’s event and interaction with young artists will play a central role in the theme visual media exhibition of this film festival, and will exert far-reaching significance in improving the quality of visual works and awards.
